5 Blog Contests

2007/09/05 |

Here’s another batch of blog contests which you might want to try for. Prizes are rather attractive. Blog owners run contests with the aim of getting more backlinks and traffic but whether or not such contests are worth while is still an open question. This is especially true with so many blogs running competitons that prizes have to be really attractive to get people to take part. Anyway, here is the batch for August/September.

1. DevDad.com is giving away a Canon PowerShot SD750 digital camera. Write a 200 word review of the site with some backlinks. Additional prizes in the form of SmugMug memberships. Closing date: 31 August 2007.

2. Bob Meets World is raffling off his MacBook for $10 a ticket. It’s a neat plan. He’s selling 300 tickets at $10 each, so everyone has a 1-in-300 of winning the MacBook. If he doesn’t sell all 300 tickets, he will pick a random name and split whatever he’s earned so far 50/50. He’s also throwing in a PR5 backlink for everyone who buys a ticket.

3. Get 2 chances to win $100 at PureBlogging.com - once in the 1000th Comment contest and another $100 for writing a review. Contests go on until the 1000th comment is made.

4. Win $100 for writing a review at OnPulseIM.com. No backlink is required but you need to Stumble and Digg the contest post. Closing date: 1 September 2007.

5. Ok, this one’s not really a blog contest but its prizes are so attractive I must list it. Social bookmarking site Mister Wong is giving away $6,000 for a logo design competition. Two runners-up will get $3,000 each. 12 top designs will be decided by Mister Wong users who get 12 votes each. Then a panel of international judges will decide the winners from these top 12 finalists. Closing date: 8 September 2007.
